Liverpool Tales from the Mersey Mouth - A book by John Williams

"This is a wonderful collection of writings by John Williams. While it isn't specifically about the Beatles, they are clearly a part of the story, along with the very fiber and fabric of the city that influenced him and them as well. The pieces are short, well written and filled with a delicious sense of humor that shines in the titles as well as the essays." Jan Perry, Cincinnati Post
"John Williams writes in the language of Liverpool, a Scouse scribe who brings to life the people and places, inner thoughts and outer images, the vigour and vitality and essentially, the iron humour of a unique city." Bill Harry, founder of Mersey Beat

Great to see the guestbook back, It is a shame that a few gutless wonders spoiled the last one for all the people who enjoyed it. Good luck with this one John.

John, I stumbled across your website whilst looking up some stuff on Tonik material for a suit I'm getting made. I creased up on reading your piece "A dedicated follower of fashion" - its an excellent piece of writing. This, of course, is the problem with the Internet -there's so much #at*%!e on it that it really is a pleasure to find something that is humorous, insightful and properly written. I've had a very quick delve into some of your other pieces too but I'm waiting for a quiet moment when I can enjoy them at my leisure. I've never been to Liverpool but I'm working-class London so I hope you don't mind me saying that I think I can understand a little of where you're coming from. Regards Des

I'm the Mike Speakman from the "wrong arm of the law." I've only just found this web site. It is full of memories for me and really captures the spirit of Liverpool from the 1960s till I left in 1995.
